Painter Oldbury
The Painter/Labourer will support planned and reactive maintenance works across occupied and void social housing properties. The role involves preparing and treating areas affected by mould, including the safe application of chemical fungicidal wash systems, followed by high?quality redecoration. Candidates with additional trade skills will be prioritised.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out chemical fungicidal mould wash treatments in line with safety guidelines and manufacturer instructions.
Prepare surfaces including washing down, sanding, filling, and priming.
Complete internal and external painting and decorating to a high standard.
Work professionally within occupied social housing, maintaining cleanliness and respect for residents.
Identify and report underlying issues contributing to mould growth, such as ventilation or leak problems.
Assist with general labouring duties including clearing areas, protecting surfaces, and supporting other trades.
Follow all health and safety procedures, including correct PPE usage and COSHH requirements.
Maintain accurate records of completed works and materials used.
Essential Skills & Experience
Experience as a Painter, Labourer, or multi?trade operative.
Background in social housing, voids, or occupied domestic properties.
Ability to safely apply chemical fungicidal mould treatments.
Strong understanding of surface preparation and finishing techniques.
Good communication skills and a customer?focused approach.
Ability to work independently and as part of a maintenance team.
Desirable / Supplementary Skills
Candidates with any of the following will be highly valued:
Basic carpentry (skirting, boxing?in, minor repairs)
Plaster patching or skimming
Basic plumbing (tap changes, leak identification)
Tiling repairs
Sealant application
Experience with damp and condensation diagnostics
PASMA, IPAF, or Working at Heights certification
Preferred Qualifications
CSCS card
Asbestos Awareness
COSHH training
Manual Handling
NVQ Level 2 in Painting & Decorating or equivalent
