Multi Trader (Social Housing)

 Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and versatile Multi Trader to join our social housing maintenance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out a wide range of repairs, maintenance, and refurbishment works across occupied and void properties. This role requires a proactive approach, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to deliver high-quality workmanship while ensuring tenant satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform general maintenance and repair tasks across multiple trades (carpentry, plumbing, plastering, tiling, painting & decorating, basic electrical works).

  • Carry out responsive repairs, planned maintenance, and refurbishment works in social housing properties.

  • Diagnose issues, provide effective solutions, and ensure all work is completed to a high standard.

  • Work independently or as part of a team to meet deadlines and service level agreements.

  • Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations and company policies at all times.

  • Maintain accurate records of work completed, materials used, and time spent.

  • Deliver excellent customer service, respecting tenants’ homes and ensuring minimal disruption.

  • Report any safeguarding concerns or property issues beyond scope of work.

 Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience as a Multi Trader or similar role within social housing, property maintenance, or construction.

  • Competence in at least two core trades (e.g., carpentry, plumbing, plastering) with ability to undertake minor works in others.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work on own initiative.

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-focused approach.

  • Full UK driving licence (company vehicle may be provided).

  • Knowledge of health & safety practices and safe working procedures.

  • NVQ or equivalent qualification in a relevant trade (desirable but not essential).
