Carpenter – Reactive Maintenance (Temp to Perm)
Location: Croydon
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Carpenter to join a busy reactive maintenance team working within social housing properties across Croydon and surrounding areas. This is a temp-to-perm opportunity, offering long-term stability with a well-established contractor.
The Role
As a Carpenter, you will be carrying out day-to-day reactive repairs in occupied and void properties. You’ll be working in residents’ homes, so delivering a high standard of workmanship alongside excellent customer service is essential.
Key Duties

Carry out reactive carpentry repairs in social housing properties

Hanging and repairing doors, frames, and locks

Kitchen unit repairs and installations

Flooring repairs (laminate, floorboards)

Fitting skirting, architraves, and boxing-in

Basic multi-trade tasks (patch plastering, tiling, minor decorating)

Diagnosing faults and completing repairs efficiently

Ensuring all work is completed right first time

Maintaining a clean and safe working environment

Updating job reports via PDA/mobile system
Requirements
Essential:
-
NVQ Level 2 in Carpentry (or equivalent experience)

Proven experience in reactive maintenance / social housing

Strong all-round carpentry skills

Ability to work independently

Full UK driving licence

Good communication and customer-facing skills
Desirable:

Multi-trade experience

Previous work on housing association or local authority contracts
