Multi-Skilled Operative – Social Housing
Temp to Perm | £20.25 per hour Umbrella | £33,500 Permanent Salary
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Multi-Skilled Operative to join a social housing maintenance team on a 12-week temp-to-perm basis, with the opportunity to secure a permanent position following a successful temporary period.
The primary skill required for this role is flooring renewals, so candidates must have strong experience with flooring works, including screeding and vinyl flooring. Experience with shower tray renewals, plumbing and joinery would also be highly beneficial.
The Role
You will be responsible for carrying out a range of multi-skilled maintenance works within social housing properties, with a particular focus on flooring renewals and wetroom-related works.
Key duties will include:
- Carrying out all aspects of flooring renewals
- Installing and replacing vinyl flooring
- Screeding and preparing floors ready for new flooring
- Removing and replacing existing flooring
- Shower tray renewals and installations
- Carrying out associated plumbing works
- Completing associated joinery works
- General multi-skilled maintenance and repairs
- Ideally, carrying out wetroom installations and repairs
- Working within occupied and unoccupied social housing properties
- Completing works to a high standard
- Maintaining a clean and tidy working environment
- Liaising professionally with tenants and colleagues
- Completing work safely and in line with company procedures
Working Hours & Pay
- Monday – Friday
- 8:00am – 4:30pm
- £20.25 per hour Umbrella whilst temporary
- £33,500 per annum once permanent
- 12-week temp-to-perm
- Company van provided
- Fuel card provided
Training & Support
Your first two days will be dedicated to training and familiarisation. Following this, you will be paired with an experienced member of the team to learn the processes, standards and expectations of the role.
Once you're comfortable and have been shown the ropes, you'll be expected to manage your own jobs and work independently.
Requirements
- NVQ in a relevant building trade – essential
- Strong experience in flooring renewals – essential
- Experience with screeding and vinyl flooring
- Experience with shower tray renewals/installation
- Good knowledge of associated plumbing and joinery
- Previous social housing maintenance experience – essential
- Wetroom experience is highly desirable
- Full UK driving licence – essential
- Preferably a clean driving licence with no points
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Reliable, organised and professional approach
